Who we are:

 

Spotlight Skills provides second-level schools with a curriculum-linked online learning platform for developing and accrediting students' competencies - knowledge, skills and attitudes. This service is provided through structured skill development modules presented using engaging video, animation & formative assessment strategies.

 

 

When you use Spotlight Skills services

 

Client data is processed: in order to provide you with a licence to access Spotlight Skills services and to get access to the various resources we provide to you.

The information that you provide to us enables you to gain access to our services and is processed by Spotlight Skills Limited and Enovation who provide access to our moodle service.

The information when provided to us, is processed to deliver training, by office administrators and for sales and marketing.

For schools.

 

The legal basis for the processing of your data is necessary for the performance of a contract to which you are a party. 

 

How it works for Students and teachers

 

Teachers are provided with a CSV file requesting teacher and student name and school email address.

This is entered into our Moodle platform to set up student accounts. Email addresses are used to log-in to the site and students create their own password.

Teachers will have access to their students assignments and data to track course progress, badges completed, number of video views, log-in dates and times.

 

When assignments are submitted they do not contain identifying data.

For Students:


·      We store username.

·      Password.

·      Completed assignments.

·      Only held for duration of school term or the length to school requests.

 

Third parties

 

We may also send you emails through our email service provider Office365 which is a cloud service provider which purports to rely on European data protection laws and US Standard Contractual Clauses.

 

Our data processors and why they process


  • Office365 – Email, document management and windows security
  • Eir - telecom services
  • Looka – Website generator
  • Enovation – Platform that provides access to Moodle and our services
  • Moodle – content holding platform

 

We retain data for the duration that your school partakes in our service, when a school opts to not renew their subscription the data is deleted.

 

All other files such as contracts are kept for the duration of the statute of limitations.

If you choose to view this information, we are unable to guarantee that social media providers will not set cookies to whatever device you use when reading the material.

* Right to access the data - you have the right to request a copy of the personal data that; We hold about you, together with other information about our processing of that personal data; 


* Right to rectification - you have the right to request that any inaccurate data that is held about you is corrected, or if we have incomplete information, you may request that we update the information such that it is complete; 


* Right to erasure - you have the right to request us to delete personal data that we hold about you. This is sometimes referred to as the right to be forgotten; 


* Right to restriction of processing or to object to processing - you have the right to request that we no longer process your personal data for particular purposes, or to object to our processing of your personal data for particular purposes. 


* Right to data portability - you have the right to request us to provide you, or a third party, with a copy of your personal data in a structured, commonly used format.

If we are processing personal data based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. This does not affect the lawfulness of processing which took place prior to its withdrawal.

You may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The Irish supervisory authority is the Data Protection Commission. 

 

Requirement to process personal data 

If you do not provide us with your information for the purposes described above, we cannot provide you with a licence to access our services. 

 

Automated decision-making and profiling 

We do not use any personal data for the purpose of automated decision-making or profiling. Schools can monitor student progress access submissions of work and award digital badges in recognition of evidence of learning.
